Introducing Summer Jeep Experience: Jeep Tours in the Bollenstreek, Year-Round

By Marius

A lot of people ask me: "Do you only run tours during tulip season?"

For a while, the honest answer was yes. Tulip Jeep Experience started as a spring thing: the fields, the colour, the crowds coming to Lisse and Keukenhof. That's what people associate with this region, and it made sense to start there.

But the Bollenstreek doesn't stop being worth seeing in June, July, or August. If anything, summer shows a completely different side of it: one that most visitors never get to see.

That's why I started Summer Jeep Experience.

What is Summer Jeep Experience?

Summer Jeep Experience is the year-round extension of Tulip Jeep Experience. Same historic 1944 WW2 jeep. Same private, personal setup. Same local guide: me, born and raised in Lisse. Just a different season, and better weather.

Instead of tulip fields, summer tours focus on what this region has beyond the flowers: open green landscapes, quiet countryside roads, historic landmarks, and the Dutch coast. It's the Bollenstreek without the crowds, without the rush, and with a lot more sunshine.

Why Summer Tours in the Bollenstreek?

Most people visit this region between March and May. Once the tulips are gone, the tourist buses leave: and that's exactly when it gets interesting.

In summer, the roads are quiet. The countryside around Lisse, Noordwijk, and Teylingen is green and open. You can drive past the Ruins of Teylingen, through the surroundings of Kasteel Keukenhof, past Huys Dever, and out toward Langevelderslag beach: all without a single tour group in sight.

Long summer evenings mean golden light over Dutch windmills and waterways. It's the kind of scenery you come to the Netherlands for, just without the April crowds.

The Same Experience, A Different Season

Everything that makes Tulip Jeep Experience what it is carries over to the summer tours:

  • Private — no shared groups, no strangers, just your party

  • Personal — routes tailored to what you want to see

  • Historic — the 1944 WW2 jeep adds a layer of history to every ride

  • Local — I've lived here my whole life, and I know the roads most people never find

For larger groups, the 1975 ex-Dutch army Land Rover is available too; seats up to 6, open top when the weather allows. In summer, it almost always allows.

Jeep Tours Near Keukenhof Not Just in Spring

One of the most common searches that brings people to this site is some variation of jeep tour near Keukenhof or things to do in Lisse. And while Keukenhof is only open in spring, the area around it is beautiful all year.

If you're visiting the Netherlands in summer and looking for something beyond Amsterdam, a private jeep tour through the Bollenstreek countryside is one of the most unique experiences you'll find. No tulips needed.
